... and we're back

Ok, two months later, and we've got a new post.

Somehow, my classes have left me without bruises. Maybe I'm just that good now? Ha! I hardly think so.

Here's Robin's latest "badge." This is what happens when your partner neglects to put a shield up and quite literally eats an elbow.

Let's welcome back our special guest...

Yep, that's right. Robin has made a triumphant return.

This is the result of another good night at Muay Thai... courtesy of her fellow fighter Ben. All elbows, if I'm not mistaken!

On another note... I've advanced to a Yellow Belt! Woo! And despite having worked with rattan sticks (as opposed to the "safety" versions with padding and tape) last week... no good bruises to post!

From May 28th - Look ma, no hands!

This past Thursday night, we continued our footwork drills, which I need... badly. This time, it was a series of scenarios where the defender could not use their hands to prevent being pushed or knocked off balance. The final drill of the night restricted the defender to only being able to use head control against their opponent. I think that's where these bad boys came in. Be warned, thar be moob ahead!

And for a detailed shot of my left arm (couldn't resist because of the color variations)...

Finally... something of mine

Well, here we are, my first official BOH post. Two minor ones, but, the only visible injuries since I started down this crazy path.

One is the direct result of a series of combination bare knuckle punches to the bags in class.

Next is what happens when you throw a wild right hook at a 1st Degree Black Belt who's being prepped to test up to 2nd. When they shut you down, they're going to shut you down hard. Unfortunately, it's taken a few days to show up (this happened this past Tuesday). It's still a bit swollen, too.

And third, which you can't see... is a thumb that's been sprained for the third time since February. Ah, well... such is life.

First official "badges" post - guest starring Robin

So I started this blog with the intention of posting up my assorted bruises, lumps, bumps, breaks, sprains, and the like. Little did I know that in the last two weeks, despite increasing my frequency of classes and even working on asphalt, I haven't been bruised.

Robin, however, has more than made up for it.

Take a look at these from her Muay Thai class...

First entry - placeholder!

Soon to be filled with what I've named my "badges of honor," my jujitsu- related bruises, contusions, and other assorted minor injuries!
