From side control to guard to a mount...

Results in something like this.

And then what you wind up with two days later-

That would be the direct result of putting a Sensei into side control, having it transitioned into a guard, then being scissor- swept, with the mount reversed. If done properly, the knees land into the arms. That's what the arms look like.

The result of bicep line controls...

Last night, the class was divided into two groups- the four that were testing for their orange belt, and those who weren't. Those who weren't got a lesson in bicep line control as a method for shutting down punches. This is what happens when it's done correctly to you.

I missed one!

Yes, this is a gratuitous topless shot of me... but bear with me. It's part of my trials. I've lost some fat, gained some muscle... and got a pretty good bicep bruise.

The arm bruise is a result of being an uke for a 3rd degree brown belt test.

Possible break?

So, self- diagnosis looks like a possible minor fracture between the base knuckles of my middle and index fingers. It hurts w/out contact, is swollen, and is bruising quickly. Ah, well. All in the name of fun!
